Desert Sand Rings

I drew inspiration for these copper rings from the red desert sands found throughout Southern Utah. After the rings were created, the surface quality was achieved through a process called heat patina. 

Heat Patina is created by coating the metal in flux, heated to just before melting, then quickly quenching the metal in water.

Materials: Copper, acrylic clear coat to prevent tarnishing.
